Year-round, scheduled weekly service
Northland barges ship thousands of tons of building materials, vehicles, supplies and general cargo to support the thriving city of Anchorage and points beyond. Alaska's largest municipality is also a crucial Northland transshipment point for "bush Alaska". Freight from Anchorage-area suppliers is consolidated here for the next leg of its journey to remote Western Alaskan ports.

Amazing Shipment: Strykers in Seattle
The U.S. Army's 833rd Transportation Battalion gave Northland Services the order to move eight Stryker vehicles from Fort Wainwright, Alaska to Seattle, Washington. Eight-wheeled, 23 feet long, and weighing nearly 40,000 pounds each, Strykers are not cargo for the inexperienced or the inadequately equipped. Northland transported all eight vehicles on a single sailing, from the base at Fort Wainwright to the 833rd's yard in Seattle. Mission accomplished.

"Wanted to thank you all again for your time today and allowing us behind the 'scenes', so to speak of your operations. You are a great group of professionals. I have not seen so much care and attention to detail in loading Strykers anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. The right folks with the right equipment doing a great job."
